The Captial of New Zealand – Wellington*
For me, Wellington is a cosmopolitan which carries artistic, cultural and energetic elements.
I took the 7-hr midnight coach from Auckland to Wellington. The main reason why I didn’t take the domestic flight instead is because I want to experience the long haul bus, and also save one night of hostel fee. I didn’t worry too much as NZ is an extremely safe place, apart from the threatening earthquake.
Quite unfortunately that the weather was still cloudy in those 2 days stayed in Wellington. Staying in the backpacker hostel YHA, I met a few friends from different countries, like England, Canada, India and New Zealand. We shared our food; we shared our home stories; we shared our reasons why come to NZ alone. That’s one of the worthies of travelling alone.
The Harbour side
The Te Papa Museum – Discover the original of NZ- the Maori history
The way down to the city centre with European heritage style buildings. It is called Lambton Quay.
The famous Parliament Building
It’s like the Central in Hong Kong! Business people are all busy hanging around with their documents or softbags on hands. During lunch time, they just got their fast food set, consuming it in the food court or even take-out.
After having my pizza lunch at the food court, I spent few dollars to buy the tram ticket in an alley. Again, even the peak tram in Wellington is also same as the one in Hong Kong. However, the Botanic garden up to the peak is definitely huger than Hong Kong’s. The garden keepers are all endeavoring to cultivate all kinds of plants, no matter the wilted grass field or brilliant rose garden.
Next check point is Te Papa museum. In total, it has 6 floors. I spent 3 hrs to barely go through all the themes on each floor. Very interesting! Much much more fun if compares to the science or whatever museums in HK.
Here comes to the relaxing part. Not having massage, not having sleeping time, but walk along with the sunshine up to the hill, the Mount Victoria.
Take 1hr walk up to the top -the gorgeous sea view of Wellington* When I was finding the way get there, I met helpful NewZealander again. A handsome guy drove a govermental environment dept. car, asking me whether I needed him to drive me to the mountain top. Haa, but I rejected him because I wanna get there by myself and enjoy every little moment and all the tiny things along the walkway.
On the way back to hostel, my tea time – Rich caramel chocolate slice*
