* A Brand New Start - CX FA (Interview) *

After being FA in Draginair for 2.5 years, it is time to have a change - Look for the real crew life. I would like to have a brief sharing about my CX FA interview, together with my tiny tips =)

CX Training

1. Phone Interview:
Personnel calls you in Cantonese at the very beginning. Then they will ask you to have self introduction in English for 2-3 mins. Do prepare pen and paper for jotting important information for 1st interview.

*Tips: If you have prepared some short sentences or cue cards. Do take them before you answer the phone call.

2. First Interview:
My time slot was 9am. Approximately 50 people in a room for having a career briefing first.
--> Group Discussion: Around 15 people in a room. 5 people as a small group will be given a topic. We have 5 mins for discussion among groupmates. Then everyone of us has 1 min to present.

*Tips: Focus on time management. Do not use up 5 mins to discuss the points. Do encourage your groupmates to divide parts for presenting at the last minute.

3. Second Interview:
After waiting for 45mins, the 2nd interview, role play started.
--> Role Play: 8 people in a room and separated into 4 people in a small group. Pairs are formed. Different situation cards are given to each pair. Then take turns to act as customers and service providers to solve the situations. If you pass this part as well, they will give you the final interview time slot.

*Tips: Ways to solve the "situation/problem" should include "Apology - Say sorry", "Alternatives- Offer some other choices/compensations" and "Follow-up - promise how to do better next time".

4. English Test
Computer-based with two parts including listening. Around 100 questions in total. Like Secondary school public exam, it includes comprehension, matching, fill in the blanks etc.

*Tips: Know your disadvantage in advance. E.g. Im not good at comprehension. Therefore, I do this part quickly and go back to this part when i have time left.

5. Final Interview (normally held on few days after your 1st/2nd interview)
Question types depend on your educational/ working background. If your working experience related to customer service, they will focus on your customer situation handling more. E.g Ask you to share one of your memorable serving experience/ one difficulty on your previous job. Then some follow-up questions will be asked.

*Tips: Prepare 2-3 cases related to customer service that you encountered. Do elaborate more when you share the case.

6. Mandarin Test
Computer-based with two parts including listening and speaking. Your pin-yin prounciation of simple words and 3-minute discussion will be recorded.

*Tips: Keep calm and speak slowly as i think that time is sufficient.

And then wait for Body Check call (BC call).

7. Body Check
- Blood Test
- Blood pressure measure
- Urine test
- X-ray
- Eye test
- Ear test
- Weight and height
- Doctor meeting

Then wait for offer call. Good luck!  =)

  2. Hi Flying Angel,

Thank you for this super helpful post. I'm currently in the waiting stage for the BC call.. I'm just wondering, for those applicants who haven't gone through the 2nd language test, will they still be considered successful on their final interview?

And how long does CX called you for the BC? Thanks a lot!

    1. Hi Jhou,

      Sorry for the late reply!

I heard that some candidates have re-test for the language test (They still gone through the final interview even though they failed in 1st attempt language test). Therefore I think there is still chance. No need to worry too much!

All the best and Thanks for supporting my blog!

    1. Chau Tung,

I'm not sure whether there are similar cases as yours from my colleagues. However, I would like to suggest you reading English articles loudly as practice. It really helps improving your pronunciation and fluency. This is a tiny sharing and I used to do this during my major in English Uni. study. Hope it helps you. =)

All the best and thanks for supporting my blog!

    1. Hello!
Firstly thanks for supporting my blog.
For the discussion, I think better have a good time management, as everyone of us just got exactly one minute to speak. Meanwhile, don't just focus on what points to say among your groupmates, but also leave time to decide who are going to talk about the points.

For role play, normally common sense, like apologize first ad then offer alternatives. And don't give hard time to other candidates. Just do what the examiner asks you to do.

      Hope it helps =]

      All the best!

    3. Hi Flying angel, I went to interview today, and finally failed in the second interview (marketing plan + role play). Feeling quite disappointed since in this stage, only 3 people were sent out and I was one of them. Indeed I kept smiling all the time :(
probably not enough team work? I was not able to see the timer during the discussion and after the time was up, division of work was not even done. And since then I was getting bit nervous since I didnt know what part im gonna talk about.... Also the role play was quite time consuming and time was tight and I didn't know enough of my team mates--> poor team spirit and we both got fouled. SO SAD!
      Lack of luck this time:(
Need to re-think if I was a FA material actually
Anyways, thank you for your tips and hope you safe and nice flight ^^
Thank you for reading the above ^^

  5. Thank you Flying Angel, your blog helps me a lot.. Btw my name is Oley, been supporting you since but I don't usually do the comments. Your blog has been very helpful so I guess I need to share with you my interview experience.

    A. I was invited for group discussion (22 Sept 16) -Passed
    B. Done the Language Computer generated assessment (Same day)
    C. One on One Interview (waited for 8 weeks for final interview which I just did Tuesday 8 Nov16)
    D. Certificate Check (same day as C)

I speak a little Cantonese, cant write/read and speak, write, read 3 languages (including English). I'm worried as my interviewer ask me to wait for 6 weeks and she said if I haven't heard anything from them within that time "your application has been declined" I did not even do the Body Check yet.

Hopefully and praying that there a chance

    1. Hi Oley,
Firstly thanks for supporting my blog. I'm glad to hear that you are almost there and don't give up! Recently the company seems slower down the procedures for recruiting FA. So please be patient and confident! My friend also asked me about the recent interview flow. May I share yours to her if you don't mind?

      Cheers,
      Flying Angel

  7. Hi Flying Angel

I have one question, some of the people I knew went to Another language assessment after final interview at the same day and some of us didn't went to that. Would that mean that they have higher chance of getting hired?(or I'm just being too negative)
