Back to Christchurch, spent the last two days of the trip here.
In Feburary 2011, there was a serious 7.x earthquake threatened Christchruch. It almost destroyed the whole town. The Christ Church Cathedral was collapsed. On the few days after I left Christchurch, the earthquake came again…bless Christchurch.
The Cathedral Square was blocked due to the disaster.
There is a botanic garden at Christchurch as well.
The Arts Centre
Canterbury Museum, quite interesting exhibition and introduction of the Maori
The reflection on the Avon River is also attractive.
Not many shops on the New Regent Street, but full of warm and support from the local people to each others.
Some of the souvenirs for my family, my favourite: Brownie
NewZealander special: X’mas pudding
NewZealand McDonalds McFlurry special flavor: Caramel + Cookies
p.s. When I took the bus from the Christchurch Airport to the city, I met a very nice bus driver. I asked him if there are still places for sightseeing in Christchurch after the earthquake, he then tried his best to tell me where I could still take a look. He even dropped me off exactly outside my hostel YMCA, which is not an official bus stop. Meanwhile, I felt sorry that the disaster really hurt them deeply. The tourists who went to the Christ Church Cathedal didn’t smile anymore, even when taking photos. However, they didn’t give up their normal life. I should give them appreciation!
